Wounded Landscapes is the culmination of nearly three years of collaboration between pianists Megan Thibeault (Halifax), Justin Paul Ortez (Michigan), and composer Cory Harper-Latkovich (Toronto). The result is three new works for piano: two solo works which evoke each respective pianist’s sensibilities as an artist, and one piano duo which synthesizes elements of the solo works.

Societies of Solitude written with Megan Thibeault is a suite of shorter pieces which are individually unique in tone and energy and represent Thibeault’s own dynamic style as a performer.

Wounded Landscapes written with Justin Paul Ortez on the other hand, is a large piece that stretches the perception of time and form and reflects Ortez’s own patience and focus as a performer.

evocation, Intimacy takes elements of the two solo pieces and presents them in a performance which reflects the ritual of collaboration that created itself: solitude, coming together, intense focus, improvisation, creation.
