Piazzolla and Beyond is a vibrant journey through the rhythmic pulse and emotional depth of tango nuevo. The program highlights how Piazzolla’s voice continues to inspire Canadian composers who blend classical form with the sensual energy of Argentine tango.
From Hatzis’ introspective Old Photographs to Davies’ lyrical Tango and Kutnowski’s dynamic Buenos Aires Y2K, the concert weaves a narrative of nostalgia, rhythm, and reinvention — culminating with Piazzolla’s own Four Seasons of Buenos Aires.
Designed for chamber music audiences that appreciate both sophistication and passion, this program brings together familiar and fresh voices, bridging cultures and eras through the expressive power of the piano trio.
