Overview
The CMC/ONMC short-term creative residency is a new initiative for composers, performers, and/or ensembles looking to create new work. The successful applicant will benefit from a week long self-directed residency at 10,000 Hours Piano Rehearsal Studios in Ottawa and the opportunity to showcase their newly created work(s) during the Ottawa New Music Creator’s 2025 Ottawa New Music Festival between November 7-9.
Resident artists will have 9am-5pm access to 10,000 Hours’ equipment and facilities for the duration of their retreat, including a Steinway grand piano, CMC’s knowledgeable staff who are available to provide technical support and assistance, and production assistance from the Artistic Direction of the ONMC.
There is no application fee for the Artist-in-Residence Program. Selections are made depending on eligibility and how closely the project you are hoping to achieve fits with our mandate of supporting Canadian Composers and bringing their music to life.
Artists and producers at all career stages are encouraged to apply. Proposals should state what your goals and/or objectives are for the residency.
Deadline for Applications is July 4, 2025
