We apologize for the inconvenience\, and we encourage anyone who planned on attending who would be unable to under these circumstances to join the livestream presentation of the event! \nIf you have any accessibility-related questions\, please contact matthew.fava@cmccanada.org. \nJoin the Thin Edge New Music Collective for a free workshop with guest artists Ko Ishikawa and Miyama McQueen-Tokita. Learn about the intricacies of writing for traditional Japanese instruments (shō and bass koto) in a contemporary music setting.  Includes a panel discussion with composers Daryl Jamieson\, Hiroki Tsurumoto\, Yuka Shibuya\, Sarah Peebles\, and Takeo Hoshiya.\n\nMore about the ONGAKU Festival | ONGAKU is a three day festival and cultural exchange featuring performances\, an educational workshop\, and multiple world premieres\, celebrating some of Japan and Canada’s most exciting voices in contemporary and experimental music (September 20-22nd\, 2019\, Toronto). TENMC performers will be joined by visiting guest artists Miyama McQueen-Tokita (bass koto)\, Ko Ishikawa (shō)\, Ami Yamasaki (voice) and Akiko Nakayama (projections/visual artist/’alive painting’). ONGAKU showcases works by Canadian composers Hiroki Tsurumoto\, Juliet Palmer\, Daryl Jamieson\, and Kotoka Suzuki alongside works by Yuka Shibuya\, Takeo Hoshiya\, Toshiya Watanabe\, Yoshiaki Onishi\, Jo Kondo\, Malinka Kishino\, and Miya Masaoka. \nONGAKU will take place at 918 Bathurst and the CMC Chalmers Performance Space in Toronto\, with satellite concerts presented by NUMUS Concerts and Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo\, Ontario (September 18-19\, 2019).

This concert features music by Emanuel-Melik Aslanian\, Aminollah André Hossein\, Maziar Heidari\, Aftab Darvishi\, Saman Shahi as well as a newly commissioned work by Toronto composer Sina Fallah. \nThis concert is one hour long\, and has no intermission.

This tour features music by a wide range of Canada’s brightest living composers\, written for or commissioned by Canadian guitarists\, showcasing the richness and diversity of the repertoire. In keeping with this tradition\, the program will feature a new sonata for guitar which Michael commissioned from Nathan\, and also includes works written for Nathan and Michael by other composers. The evening will feature works by Dale Kavanagh\, Tova Kardonne\, Patrick Roux\, William Beauvais\, Sean Clarke\, Christina Volpini\, Nathan Bredeson\, Daniel Medihzadeh\, and Jason Noble.
